I am known as a supplement guy. I love dietary supplements and think everyone of every age should take quality supplements, like the kind you find at The Health Food Center.
But after doing a little experiment this year, I am convinced all over again that you cannot obtain superior health by supplements alone.
This year, I did an experiment. Basically, I did everything right for six months – the right diet, supplements, and exercise – and for the second six months, I planned to ONLY take the right supplements, while eating the Standard American Diet and cut down on exercising.
The problem is that after only a few months of ONLY taking the right supplements, I’m completely miserable. The supplements alone have done very little to stop the onslaught of symptoms I’m experiencing; symptoms like asthma, allergies, psoriasis, upper respiratory swelling, restless leg, insomnia, brain fog, and depression. Therefore, I’m going to have to cut the second half of my experiment short. I can’t handle these symptoms any longer!
Most people who try supplements inadvertently do what I did during the second half of my experiment. They take good supplements, but they continue with a really bad diet. In most cases, they begin feeling a little better because supplements really do work. But they don’t experience robust health – not the way they could if they would simply use the supplements in concert with a great diet and exercise program.
A man once told me that I was using supplements the same way that doctors use drugs. I think he was right. I was chasing symptoms with supplements, without having a good diet as a foundation.
Are you guilty of this? Before you give up on your health goals, take the best quality supplements you can, and couple it with a great diet. If you need help, give me a call and visit The Health Food Center.
